2021-22 WE LEAGUE AWARDS
Overview of the Awards announced.

The Japan Women’s Empowerment Professional Football League (WE LEAGUE), have announced the Selection Committee and an overview of the Awards for the 2021-22 WE LEAGUE AWARDS, scheduled on Tuesday, 7th June from 16pm (Japan time). The WE LEAGUE AWARDS will also be streamed live on DAZN YouTube.

Overview of the Awards

[Selection Committee]

Selection Committee refers to: 4 Executive Committee Members and 11 Club Representatives Committee Members from the 11 WE LEAGUE clubs.

*Note: Process of selection for the “2021-22 MOST IMPRESSIVE WE ACTION DAY” award will be determined separately.

 

[Voters]

Voters refers to: the Coaches and Players from each of the 11 WE LEAGUE Clubs.

(Only players who have played at least 10 games or more during the 2021-22 Yogibo WE LEAGUE will be eligible to vote; actual game time played will not be considered).

 

*Note: For any number of league matches that a Japanese or foreign player could not compete in due to participation in training camps or matches for her national team/youth national team (including candidate players) shall be added to the number of league matches that the player actually played. (This rule also applies to all the awards listed below, where players are selected on the basis of the number of league matches played.)

*Note: Process of selection for the “2021-22 MOST IMPRESSIVE WE ACTION DAY” award will be determined separately.

 

[Overview of the Awards]

●2021-22 Yogibo WE LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

Determined according to the guidelines set out in Article 19 (Determination of the annual league ranking) of the 2021-22 Yogibo WE LEAGUE Operation Guidelines.

◇Prize: 20,000,000 JPY prize money, Women Empowerment Trophy, Medals and Champion flag.

 

●2021-22 Yogibo WE LEAGUE RUNNERS-UP

Determined according to the guidelines set out in Article 19 (Determination of the annual league ranking) of the 2021-22 Yogibo WE LEAGUE Operation Guidelines.

◇Prize: 10,000,000JPY prize money

 

●2021-22 Yogibo WE LEAGUE THIRD PLACE

Determined according to the guidelines set out in Article 19 (Determination of the annual league ranking) of the 2021-22 Yogibo WE LEAGUE Operation Guidelines.

◇Prize: 5,000,000JPY prize money

 

●Most Valuable Player (MVP)

The Most Valuable Player award will be decided by a vote within the Selection Committee. In the first round of voting, one player is selected amongst the players who received the highest number of votes for each field position through the Best Eleven Award selection process, excluding any players from the League Champion club. In the second round of voting, the MVP player will be determined from amongst all the players from the League Champion club who were also awarded the Best Eleven Award, as well as the one player who was selected from the first round of voting for the MVP.

Should no player receive a majority vote, the top two players will be selected and a final ballot will be held to decide the winner of the MVP award. If there is a tie in the final ballot, the chair’s vote will be treated as two votes.

◇Eligibility for selection: all players who have played at least 10 games or more during the 2021-22 Yogibo WE LEAGUE (Must have played at least half of all league matches; however actual game time played will not be considered).

◇Prize: 500,000JPY prize money, Glass plaque

 

●Best Eleven

The top 1 Goalkeeper, 3 Defenders, 3 Midfielders and 1 Forward player will be selected from among the players awarded the Outstanding Players Award, through the total number of votes casted by the Voters per field position. The other 3 players will be decided through another vote within the Selection Committee. (Up to 5 foreign players can be selected for this award).

◇Eligibility for selection: all players who have played at least 10 games or more during the 2021-22 Yogibo WE LEAGUE (Must have played at least half of all league matches; however actual game time played will not be considered).

◇Prize: 200,000JPY prize money, Glass plaque

 

●Outstanding Players Award

Based on the voting process laid out for the Best Eleven Award, the Chair will select the top 30 outstanding players from amongst all the players with the highest number of votes in each field position (30 players in total).

◇Eligibility for selection: all players who have played at least 10 games or more during the 2021-22 Yogibo WE LEAGUE (Must have played at least half of all league matches; however actual game time played will not be considered).

◇Prize: none

 

●Top Scorer

Player with the most goals scored during the 2021-22 Yogibo WE LEAGUE.

◇Prize: 200,000JPY prize money, Glass plaque

 

●Fair Play Award

The Selection Committee will decide based on the total number of foul points in the 2021-22 Yogibo WE LEAGUE and the Match Commissioner's assessment of fair play in each match.

◇Prize: 1,000,000JPY prize money, Glass plaque

 

●Best Coach of the Year

Awarded to the Coach of the 2021-22 Yogibo WE LEAGUE Champion Club

◇Prize: 200,000JPY prize money, Glass plaque

 

●Referee Appreciation Award

This year, the "Best Referee of the Year” will not be selected, and instead, all referees who took part in the WE LEAGUE will be awarded the "Referee Appreciation Award”.

◇Eligibility for selection: All active referees from in the 2021-22 Yogibo WE LEAGUE.

◇Prize: Special tossing coin

 

●2021-22 MOST IMPRESSIVE WE ACTION DAY

A selection committee consisting of WE LEAGUE Executive Committee Members (excluding Club Representatives Committee Members from each club) and WE ACTION MEETING participants will vote for the MOST IMPRESSIVE WE ACTIOIN DAY. In the event of a tie for the highest number of votes, the Chair will make the final decision.

◇Prize: Glass plaque
